1. “Proposal”
Proposal means a formal request for specific action within the jurisdiction of the Court to which it is directed.
Proposals can address issues of social justice, church structure, Conference operations, proposals for action by
General Council, etc. All proposals must be submitted to the Conference Office
for inclusion in the business docket. 2. “PDF Format”
"PDF Format" is used to deter unauthorized changing or editing of proposals. This format can be read by anyone with a computer. Adobe Acrobat Reader has been standard in all recent WindowsTM versions, and is available as a free download. On the website, click on the link to the proposal, and the document should open in your web browser. You can also right-click on the link, ( Control click for Mac mouses) and save the pdf file on your computer. Then, using your browser or file manager, open the file with Acrobat Reader. |

Business Procedures for 2008
At each of its meetings, Alberta and Northwest Conference devotes a major block of time to address important issues and business in the form of Proposals (1).
From May 29 to 31, 2008, the Conference Meeting in Sherwood Park will deal with proposals through the business process of First Considerations, Priority Setting, and Final Considerations. This process is based on the assumption that delegates to the meeting will have read and reflected on the proposals prior to addressing them at the meeting of Conference. |

To assist delegates in preparing for the meeting, the Planning and Business
Committees will make the proposals available in pdf format (2) through this website, with provision for delegates to submit comments and questions to the authors of the proposals. This on-line discussion is intended to enhance the discussion of the issues, and does not replace the business process at the meeting. Any decisions reached on-line have no legal status.
To control access to this on-line discussion, a password will be provided in the registration docket mailed to all delegates.
Click on the “Submit Comment” link, and enter the password when prompted. The comment will be e-mailed to the author, who will review it and add it to the comment page. Comments will be screened for appropriateness.
If you have technical difficulties with this webpage or questions about this process, please contact the Business Committee through Stuart Jackson at
buscom@ucfaithbook.com.
